What is MyHomePageHelps
My HomePageHelps is a free web resource to help raise money for charities and good causes.
Do I need an account to use the 'Homepage'?
A supporter does not need an account to use the Charities Homepage and generate money for their charity or good cause.
How much does it cost?
It is completely free, no hidden costs. It is free to the charity or good cause. It is free to the end user.
How does it work?
The charity or good cause registers for a ‘HomePage’. The generated ‘HomePage’ has a search engine, a shopping section and a promotions section that all use affiliate links or advertising links. The charity signs up for these services with the 3rd party providers, lets us know their referral details and we use their affiliate ids in the pages to generate money directly to the charity. The charity or good cause now promotes this ‘HomePage’ to all of their supporters, encouraging them to change their default homepage to this new ‘Homepage’. Supporters visit the ‘Homepage’ and ideally make this their default ‘Homepage’ on all of their devices.
I am a charity / good cause, what do I need to sign up for my own 'Homepage'?
The minimum that is needed is a name and a password. Optionally the charity or good cause can then update the remaining details when they log in to the admin part of the site. This includes a logo, important infomation about the charity or good cause, email and contact information and importantly any affiliate links that have been registered.
What are the advantages for the Supporter?
Being able to support a charity or good cause long term without it costing any of their time or money.
Making the small change and effort to change their default homepage to the charities or good causes’ MyHomePageHelps site willl allow their actions to create a small but regular contribition.
The abililty to support up to five charities in the custom section (https://www.uk.myhomepagehelps.com/custom)
The ability to keep up to date with the charities news and upcoming events without having to search it out.
A non invasive experience that is user focused rather than charity focused.
Why would an end user want this HomePage?
Most users of the internet start their internet experience with a search, so the HomePage has been designed with that in mind, and starts with a search. The HomePage is designed to be a way to help charities make money without it distracting from a normal internet experience. The majority of people want to help out charities, but don’t want it to dominate their life. Once set as your new default homepage, this site will divert some of the stray money that you generate whilst using the internet back to charities that can put it to good use.
How does this make any money?
Companies are making money all the time by directing end users around the internet, and are rewarded with commission. Commission from when adverts are looked at or clicked, commision from when products are purchased. My HomePage Helps is set up to capture and divert some of this commision to those charities with a ‘HomePage’
What does the 'Homepage' look like?
The ‘Homepage’ is minimalist, it says the name of the charity or good cause that you are supporting, and has their logo if they have uploaded one. It also has a search engine as most people start their internet browsing with a search. Further down the first page are links to a shopping section, links to instructions on how to set your ‘Homepage’ as the default homepage for the device, and links to promote the page on social media.
